GSO and GCC Joint Program Production Institution organize the General Symposium on Standardization
The GCC Standardization Organization (GSO), in cooperation with the GCC Joint Program Production Institution, organized a symposium entitled “General Symposium for Standardization and its role in consumer protection and Supporting Industry ” on 11 April 2018 in Kuwait City.
The seminar was opened by Mr. Ali Hassan Al-Rayes, Director General of the G.C.C Joint Program Production Institution. He stressed that the components of economic, social and developmental life cannot be without standards and quality. The daily life is linked to standardization at home, work, roads, and that there is a need to instill the concepts of quality professional and moral obligation to produce the goods meet the conditions of safety for consumers and environment.
The seminar was presented by Dr. Zaki Al-Rubaei, Head of Marketing and International Relations at the GCC Standardization Organization. Dr. Alrubaei introduced the (GSO) and its mission, objectives, and Achievements, the role of standardization in consumer protection, enhancing the quality of national industries and enhancing trade exchange, as well as the role of the media in spreading awareness of standardization, and he closed his presentation by the importance of the Standardization Education and the call for Universities and academic institutes to give this vital issue (Standardization) the time and efforts within their initiatives and plans.
Mrs. Nora Al-Ghareeb, Marketing Director of the G.C.C Joint Program Production Institution, pointed out that products that meet the standards and technical regulations have the best chance of competitiveness in the regional and international market, indicating that the G.C.C Joint Program Production Institution and as a media body is accelerating its closer cooperation with the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) to effectively participate in spreading the mission of GSO as it has started with the new program “truth in a minute” to introduce the objectives of standardization and follow up their implementation and commitment to develop the productive and service sectors, trade development and consumer protection, environment and public health, especially encouraging and supporting the GCC industries and Agricultural products.
The seminar was attended by a number of employees of the G.C.C Joint Program Production Institution as well as officials and representatives of a number of entities in the State of Kuwait including the Standards and Metrology Department of the Public Authority for Industry, the Intellectual Property Training Center of the General Secretariat of the GCC, the Ministry of Interior of Kuwait and the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman, journalists and reports.
It should be noted that the seminar was held in implementation of the objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding signed last august 2017 between GCC the Standardization Organization (GSO) and the G.C.C Joint Program Production Institution in August of 2017 to enhance cooperation in the field of raising awareness about standardization and related activities.
