GSO and The Standardization Administration of China (SAC) sign MOU on standardization
Last week in the Headquarters of GSO in Riyadh, the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) signed memorandum of understanding with the Standardization Administration of China (SAC).
Following the signature of the agreement, H.E. Mr. Nabil bin Amin Molla, GSO Secretary General, said that the agreement is driven by the parties’ conviction of the importance of supporting cooperation between the two organizations in the field of standardization and other related activities, and to contribute to adapt the standards between the two organizations for the exigencies of common interests that inure to the benefit of the sectors concerned with standardization in GCC and PRC.
He indicated that the Memorandum of understanding aims at promoting sustainable development, encouraging innovation and enhancing commercial exchange between the member states and the People’s Republic of China in the way that guarantees the safety of consumers, and will contribute to consolidate cooperation between the two organizations in the different standardization fields. “The memorandum also included number of items that can work on coordination of situations in the international fairs on the work of international standardization organizations and exchange of information and experiences in the other standardization-related fields”, he added.
It is noteworthy that GSO assumed its works in 2004 AD, and it aims at consolidating the standardization activities and following up their implementation and application in cooperation and coordination with the standardization agencies in the member states, in the way that contributes to the development of commerce and protection of consumer, conservation of environment, public health and support of GCC economy.
