GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) published a research paper in the field of metrology entitled “Study, design and production of measurement standards in the field of hardness measurement,” as one of its strategic projects that aim at supporting the metrological capabilities of member states.

The research paper aims to study, design and produce primary standards for hardness measurement to maintain the principle of traceability within national measurement institutes (NMIs’) in member states, through the production of relevant Artifacts.

The project work team of the Gulf Metrology Organization (GULFMET) participated in the World Conference of the International Union for Metrology (Hamburg, 25-29 August, 2024) and presented a scientific paper which was accepted as a peer-reviewed scientific research and was recently published on the ScienceDirect: Elsevier platform through the link:

Development of transfer standards for traceability of hardness diamond indenter calibration systems

The GULMET was established in compliance with GSO Board of Directors’ decision in its twelfth meeting (Kuwait, 02 June 2010). GULMET assumes the role of a regional metrology organization (RMO) dealing with all issues relating to the science of measurement (metrology) on the level of national metrology institutes (NMIs’) of member states of GSO. It obtained international recognition in October 2015, and full voting and election rights in June 2021. GULFMET has associate members (NMIs’) namely Egypt, Iraq, Turkey, South Korea, Bosnia, and Hong Kong.

The GULFMET aims to support and enhance the metrological infrastructure in member states, and to ensure the technical competencies of national metrology institutes and designated institutes participating in the GULFMET as regional metrological organizations. It also aims to facilitate the recognition of measurement and calibration competencies (CMCs) of Member States, and to support Member States to meet the requirements of the International Committee for Weights and Measures – International Mutual Recognition (CIPM MR).

It is worthwhile mentioning that ScienceDirect: Elsevier is a platform dedicated to publishing peer-reviewed medical and scientific books and journals.
