The purpose of this workshop is to allow experts in food additive safety science and policy to discuss science-based regulation and facilitate current food ingredient regulatory review and food science technologies in the GCC region. The experts will discuss food additive safety regulations in the US and Codex Alimentarius standards. Risk assessment and data generation on food additive safety will also be covered. In addition, a discussion will be held to address the concerns of food substances including food and color additives, ingredients generally recognized as safe (GRAS), new food-animal drugs, dietary supplements, and bioengineered, genetically produced, modified foods, or ingredients, as well as food safety on pesticides and agrochemicals.
